Well, ASUS claims that these accessories will be available by the end of the February.
Listing MSRP prices, I guess in some places (it means) they can be lower to a degree.
Colored wired mice, comes in 5 colors, $19.99
Headset, headphones + mic in black and white, $19.99
Battery in 3 colors, pearl white, black, and pure white, same capacity 4 Cell,2.6AH, 1WH $99.99
AC Adapter in black and white colors, $39.99
Black EEE PC sleeve/bag - $19.99 (might be available even later)
One year of additional warranty - $89.99 (might be available even later)
All accessories carry 6 months warranty.
No other information available.
Not really sure why the battery comes in two whitish colors... Did I miss something and one of the EEE PC models comes in pure white rather than the pearl white? The AC adapter price seems much more inflated than it was at ASUS website, don't know what it means. No word on 6 Cell batteries at all, the 4 Cell is rather expensive for inexpensive computer like EEE PC, maybe it is cheaper to buy another EEE PC and just take it for parts?

I gather the 4G comes in Pearl, the 2G in Pure.
Yet another fractional difference that only serves to preoccupy ASUS (and will, in time, prove a nightmare to them as they attempt Support), when the time could be better spent creating useful repos....

Cor blimey, you mean to say that 25% of the original cost of my EEE was battery? $99=£50! Have to keep an eye on ebay for cheaper third party batteries!

Pure white came out a little while ago, available with the Surf... I actually would've purchased that one, but it came out just after I bought my black one...
$99 for the battery is a joke.

Not quite. You will always get ripped off on accessories. Firstly they need to charge more profit on lower value items because of the disproportionate handling costs. Secondly you are now somewhat a captive market because of your original investment, so they can effectively charge a premium price.
Definitely go third party if they are reliable.

$39.99 for the AC adapter?! I'm glad I got mine when they were $15!
It's too bad they don't list an 8GB PCIe SSD!

What happened to the higher-capacity batteries? Does anyone know when/if they'll be available, and their price and such?
EDIT: Just to be clear on this, I thought they'd come up in such a list before, along with a preliminary price, but the parent-post states that there's been no word...

Same here. I'm glad I didn't wait for the "official" release of these things.

Where did you find this information?
One of the reasons I have been iffy on the Eee is because its somewhat lackluster battery life for its size. A battery would be great, then I could go for the slightly cheaper 4G surf (which has a replaceable battery right?)
Anyways i hope to pick mine up next week.

All Eee Pcs have a replaceable battery.

I just went and ordered a spare AC adapter for the original price of 15 bucks. Yep, they are back in stock (for now). I didn't even NEED one, I've never had an adapter go out on me before, and I've been running PC's since the early '80s, but 15 bucks instead of 40......
Better safe than sorry ! And I am liking this little bad boy.

It doesn't happen all that often, but I've had a few fail or develop such a hum that I was no longer comfortable using them.
Other uses for spare rechargers include keeping one at home and one in the office, or one plugged in at the home base and one in the bag so you don't have to keep unplugging it if the outlet is in an awkward location.

Well, as I have said, the prices are MSRP. It means that if there will be a limited run of accessories or only a few distribution partners then the price will be higher due to the limited demand and no competition. If suddenly the accessories will appear everywhere then the price will hold for some time and then drop. It can be simply a lower price or, if ASUS will lock the price, then free shipping if margin would allow.
We don't know yet our cost and thus no one knows how inflated the margin is in the MSRP price.

So why is this site http://estore.asus.com/shop/category.asp?catid=567
selling adapters for $15?
Offline
To me $99 for a battery also seems expensive.
Then again what I really want to have is not here: an 8GB SSD card
For now it almost seems I'm better off buying an 8G and cannibalizing it for parts.

i would have paid 50 maybe even 60 for a new battery but not 100 if its just a 4 cell. they can keep it for that many beans. thats like 1/3 the cost of some peoples computer alone.

Geez, I'm glad I held onto my battery from my fried Eee. Considering I was going to buy a spare anyways, after selling the parts and still having that battery I didn't lose a lot of money.

Does this mean there's a "six month warranty" on the One year of additional warranty? <big, stupid grin> LOL -- just kidding... don't pay any attention to me here... LOL

Isent the 15 dollar adapter have no warranty?
Offline

Offline

Has anyone ordered one of these already? Is it the same power adapter that comes with the Eee PC?

Just answered my own question by searching the forums. Looks to be the same one.

Obviously there is third party AC adapters out in the wild here. The AC adapter that came with my Eee PC is way different than the one that I just bought. Apparently it was made by Cnet. No idea if that is a real company, but the AC adapter that came with my Eee was charging my Eee faster, the plug wouldn't lock and always folded back, and no chinese was on the AC adapter like it is on this one. The curve of the top of the adapter was also different. Just a lot of things I could pick out to be different from the one I bought. I don't have pictures of it, but maybe later I will... I don't have the AC adapter with me.
