A gift for you all you 1000he users -CMS

For those of you who have a 1000he...
I have made an eeectrl file specially tailored for the 1000he

I hope you guys like it smile

Things I changed from the original included:
1. Disabled Clock control because it doesn't work on 1000he (use setfsb instead smile)
2. 1000he extra Blacklight options: brighter and lower levels than normally accessible, including blacklight off
3. Fan settings: automatic settings that turn the fan completely off when not needed. Fan much more quiet when on low loads.

You can get my config file here: http://drop.io/eeectrl1/asset/eeectl-ini (reuploaded 8/31/09)

You get eeectrl here: http://cpp.in/dev/eeectl/  Direct link: http://cpp.in/dev/eeectl/?get_latest_bin

Copy eeectrl file over the one included in the original eeectrl zip wink

-CMS ^^

Update: you may download eeectrl from here as the original website/owner no longer hosts the file: http://drop.io/fyorsh1/asset/eeectl-zip

*contact me if you have any issues smile

Also, Learn how to Overclock your 1000he here: http://forum.eeeuser.com/viewpoll.php?id=65687

Re: A gift for you all you 1000he users -CMS

eeectrl does not work on the 1000he in terms of overclocking, so I took it off after accidentally screwing my session up for the second time because I hit that option...

Use setFSB for the clock control...
I disabled the clock control in eeectrl because it does not work on the 1000he (from my experiences...) If you can find a magic setting that makes it work, then please share and Ill update the config ^^

I will also make a setfsb thread smile

Actually mine is just all the configs I saw here on EEEuser and just picked and chose the parts that looked good, technically this config file belongs more to the entirety of the eeeuser forum ^^

Re: A gift for you all you 1000he users -CMS

Hello Cms!
I have a little question. Is it safe to use eeectl with your config on a European 1000HE?
And is it even safe to use it at all - ok I know, it's on my own risk and so on, but I mean, can I even start up the software with your config without permanently altering settings? I have read some threads on the forums and I get the impression it's a bit of a gamble whether even starting up eeectl will permanently screw up the system or not.
Just asking a question.
I am only interested in making the fan more quiet. Since it is really annoying. I don't want to change the clock setting or the FSB or the display. Just the fan.
Thank you for your hard work!
greetings

I would say it safe. Worst case something goes wrong you just restart and its back to normal.

Re: A gift for you all you 1000he users -CMS

There is no chance that EEEctrl can do any permanent damage, you only need to restart to reset all the settings again ^^

I would be careful with the brightness settings though, at Brightest it is much brighter than the highest setting you can normally do (which is already extremely bright). It seems pretty safe on my EEE but I don't know if the European Vrsn has a different Screen.

Re: A gift for you all you 1000he users -CMS

Hello!
Thank you very much. I tried the program with your .ini and it actually works great, didn't have any crashes or something. The difference in sound is huge, as soon as you start the program it takes away about half or even 2/3 of the noise. And what I also really like is that you can switch off the backlight. I was looking for that too since I often work in well-lit environments and can save even more battery life with this function. Thanks for your efforts!
Now, the fan is so quiet that the sound of the harddrive gets annoying -.-
Happy Easter smile

Just unzip the zip file smile

replace the ini with the ini that you unziped from the zip file,
Click on eeectrl, and  you should see the icon appear in the same place as the wifi/sound/battery icons are smile
rightclick on that icon to change settings smile

No problem smile all of us have had a time when we did not have any expertise Its a good time for getting a grasp smile

A zip file is a set of files merged together as one file, you use depackaging software  to hypothetically "unzip them"
You should download a program such as winRAR or winzip
winrar= http://rarlabs.com/rar/wrar380.exe

Download both the ini (the config file that should look like a notepad with a gear on it smile ) and download the zip file for eeectrl

if you have winzip or winrar you can rightclick on the zip file and use the "extract to /xxxxx/" where xxxxx is the name of the zip file

You should see a new folder appear:)
inside that folder there is another folder called eeectrl
place the ini file in there, you should get a prompt whether you want to "overwrite" or not, click yes.
inside the eeectrl folder, there is a file called eeectrl, click on that smile

you should see something appear in your tray smile

since eeectrl clocking does not work on the 1000he, you need to use setfsb, which I have provided a link too smile
it is also in my sig smile
