A new BIOS for the eeepc?

Just click on the url to down load, the bios named "EeePC Super.ROM"
A new version? Voltage and 630/900 modify?
This bios will not back out by the 8804 or 0401. Caution.
I did not test the bios yet.

Neil says: links removed, pending confirmation of the licensing status
My oh my....this test 0511 BIOS (and likely the next official BIOS) defintiely looks like the "Holy %($&!!!" BIOS that some of you have been looking for.
It looks like this BIOS only works on the '7A' and possibly 7B revisions.

Although the translation is very rough... but from what I read it appears to:
- 'Unlock' the maximum 220 nits brightness level of the panel, which would be significantly brighter than the maximum ~130 nits or so that previous BIOSes allow.
This picture illustrates the maximum screen brightness of a 7C eeePC w/0401 BIOS on the left, and a 7A eeePC w/0511 beta BIOS on the right.

- Offer the ability to select either a 900 Mhz or 630 Mhz operating speed. Someone posted that it does not have the 'wavy' lines that the 8804 BIOS has.

Just as 'noone' has mentioned, some people posted that you cannot flash back to the official BIOSes after flashing to this 0511 beta BIOS. Some also say that the fan is louder, which probably means that Asus eliminated the lowest fan speed when running at 900 Mhz.
PLEASE READ THE BELOW
I just want to confirm that I have noticed first hand that the 0511 BIOS does in fact have a major bug that causes the system to unpredictably stop updating the ACPI CPU temperature reading in both 'Max Battery Life' and 'Max Performance' modes. After observing two instances where this problem occurred, the only way to get the system to start updating the temperature once again is by shutting the eeePC down, and removing the battery and AC adaptor (if connected). Placing the eeePC into stand by or just simply restarting it will not fix this problem.
The bug is also directly linked to the never ending loud '2nd gear' fan noise that some members have reported, but there's an even greater and much more sinister side effect to this bug:
Those who run their eeePC in the 900 MHz 'Max Performance' mode must be aware that it is (rare yet) plausible for this bug to present itself while your eeePC is in a state where the fan has stopped spinning, for instance, shortly after resuming from stand by. If this happens your fan will never turn, and when running in 'Max Performance' mode without a fan spinning, the temperature can eventually reach 80 degrees C if not higher, at which point the BIOS will downclock the CPU to 810 MHz but the temperature will still gradually increase. The critical temperature for the CPU's is 90 degrees C, but in the rare event that it reaches that temperature the system will never be aware that it has done so.
I would advise those who run their eeePC at 900 MHz, and do not care for the added brightness that 0511 offers, to flash to 0703 to avoid such issues.
Asus' re-release of the 0401 BIOS as 0703 may not have been done with 'evil' intentions after all.

DO WANT <_<
And full speed operation with maximal battery life is nothing RMClock on demand throttling can't handle.
PS: it's probably a leak.

I have a 7A model, and would definitely appreciate the increased brightness that the BIOS reportedly offers; My office area is very well-lit and results in the eeePC screen appearing to lack brightness. If the next official BIOS excludes this improvement, I'll likely give this BIOS a try.
Ultimate Chicken, the On Demand Clock Modulation throttling that you refer to is pretty much useless:

Anyways, bah. I guess I didn't know it doesn't really save battery, even if the unit feels cooler to the touch. Thanks. =.="

Neil, are we waiting for a known known, or a known unknown ;)
The babelfish link to 'the other forum' was harmless, because its website will not offer up the 'file' if the referrer is not it's own. Reinstate the links....remember, the absence of evidence is the evidence of absence :D
In regards to the screen brightness, how bright it seems to you or I will always be subjective, since it boils down to how intrusive your ambient lighting is. In a dark room the lowest brightness setting is bright enough, and in a very bright room or outdoors, 130 nits of brigtness equates to a rather dim screen. I for one have no complaints with the possibility of having an extra 90 nits at my disposal.
hukie69, unless you have downloaded the "file" from a forum other than "the other forum" it should not be in a rar package, we may not be talking about the same BIOS.
Well, I gotta get ready for work. If someone on this site does flash their eeePC with the now elusive (to some) BIOS let us know how it operates.
