Hi all,

I recently upgraded to firefox 3, and am pretty happy with it. I've made a symbolic link to the firefox script and dbl-clicking it will start FF.

I'd like to figure out how to add FF3 to my quick-launch panel, though. I've searched around, but couldn't find any instructions on how to do this... Right clicking on the panel > add to panel > application doesn't give me an option to browse to the script.

Any ideas?

Thanks,

Lee

Hi leeko,

If you are in advanced mode, which you seem to be from your post, you are on the right track...what worked for me was to right-click on an empty part of the panel, click "Add to Panel," "Special Button," "Non-KDE Application," click the folder icon on the right side of the box below "Executable," and browse to the firefox script file mentioned in the wiki entry about FF3 (http://wiki.eeeuser....installfirefox3) that you have to double-click to start the program. I also recommend clicking on the default icon that looks like a gear and clicking the "Other icons" button and selecting the Firefox icon. I did this and removed the original FF icon I had in the panel that opened FF2, and now my panel looks exactly like it did before--except now the firefox icon opens FF3 and it doesn't open a shell.

I hope this works for you...sorry for all the detail above; it's for anyone interested in doing this who needs step-by-step instructions.

Thanks!

I was nearly there, but didn't realise that "non-KDE app" was what let you browse for the right file. Good call on the in-depth instructions, too - the forum only benefits from posts like that one.

Cheers,
Lee

I confess I stumbled onto the right way to do it purely by accident. Glad I could finally contribute to this forum and help out!
