Hi!
Could someone send me a backup of 1215b's default MBR?
A little background:
It came only with Asus Express Gate pre-installed (4 primary partitions; the third one was the biggest of them meant for storing data). Since I already have older 904hd and good experience with running KUbuntu ontop of it, I decided to install it on my new netbook not long after I received it. So I split the data partition into two, so now i have 5 partitions: sda1, sda2 and sda6 are from ExpressGate - and I cannot mount them as file-system is unrecognised. sda4&5 are for user and system files, respectively (/home and /). However, during the installation process I've also rewritten the MBR records and hence I'm no longer able to boot into ExpressGate (EFI function is not working). SuperGRUB menu fails as it doesn't recognise the filesystem either. Are there any other ways to restore ExpressGate?
Note: I'm posting into general discussions, because there's no other form category for my model)

I do not have the MBR, but maybe you can restore your MBR with the help of gpart (not to be confused with gparted).
gpart ("guess partitions") looks for partitions on the disk and presents a possible MBR to the user, which may be (after confirmation) written onto the disk. See here:

Try it with a Linux Live-CD like Knoppix.
