A few months ago I upgraded to HD. I got a great deal and it looks fantastic... for anything newer. I can get allt he way down to PS1 games and still not want to gouge my eyes out (when played through a PS3, but without up-converting through the ps3). I wanted to try some old stuff out, namely my NES. It's horrible. graphical artifacts all over the place no matter settings. Tried to play some NES on the wii but it's still blurry and they don't have all the game I want to play on it, making it a poor substitute. Thats when I though EEE.

So my questions are about emulating on the EEE. Linux or windows in fine, hell even OSX works for me (seeing as thats my daily OS) but I don't know what will run and how well it will run. I'm interested in it running everything up to and including the N64, with specifics being the NES, SNES, and right now sega CD. Also it would need some emulator front end, something like EmuLaunch (http://www.emulaunch.com/). Do these systems emulate at a playable speed? My main concern is the N64 and the sega Saturn (which I can live without if I had too) and even finding emulators for oddballs (like the 3DO, but again I can live without it). Also, if it can improve the graphics with fancy post processing or anything thats all the better (as long as iI can turn it off if I want) So fo the questions

Which emulators emulate which systems at good, playable speeds, and on what OS.
Whats a good emulator front end for what OS.
Whats the best way to get controllers working (preferable wirelessly)

I'm leaning towards an EEEbox, thats why I'm asking here. the appletv (easily hacked open) and the PS3 linux are both options I'm toying with. If you have any experience with those and think they'd do better than an EEE box I'd love to hear it.
