hi all,

I have recently bought an open-box ET1602 from a local (major) store. It was good price and the machine was great, while it lasted :( Used it for about 5-days and it broke.

The first symptom was that it showed scrambled screen in windows XP and there was no response from the keyboard/mouse. I turned off the machine by pressing/holding-onto the power button for a few seconds. However, when I tried to turn on the machine again, all I get is the blue LED lights on the front panel and nothing is displayed on the screen.

I can hear the HD spinning up when the power just came on, which suggested that the MB is still good but I may have a broken screen.

Since there is no external video connection for the ET1602, can anyone suggest a way to diagnose the problem? I already filed for a RMA with asus but I would like to copy some of the files out from the HD.

if you have similar experience, I would appreciate if you can shed some light into this issue.

thanks,
