Hey guys, I'm using my 701 as my Car-puter now, but the screen is a couple inches short to mount in the dash.
I know a couple people have successfully extended the cable to a meter in length... but I cant find my spare LVDS cable anywhere... so I dont want to try it on my only cable.

Is there any other model (901, 904, 900) that uses the same cable but is slightly longer? I only need two or three extra inches. I know my 1005HA doesn't use the same cable, and neither does the 1000HA...

Just hoping someone would know... thanks!
Eee 702 8G-XP nLite with bluetooth, 4g microSD, 4g SDHC extreme III, and 4g USB w/ Xandros
Eee 701 4G-XP nLite SP2 with Touchscreen, bluetooth, and 4 gig SDHC
Eee 901 4G-Xp nlite SP3 with touchscreen, 80gig hard drive, and wifi upgrade
1000HA- bluetooth module, tons of mods on the way... STILL LOOKING FOR 7xx black touchpad!

wouldn't it be the 900 one in the "provisional test for the brave" thread?

701/900 are similar 901 has some pins connected together that will cause your eee not to boot and the voltage regulator chip to get ludicrously hot (so when you pick up the board, you melt a little square mark into your finger) what i dont know is if the 900 lVDS cable will plug into the LVDS/TTL board at the other end, and apparantly it has less conductors, so get a 701 cable (or any 7inch cable as they all seem to be the same)

ive just completed a tablet mod on a 701 and extended the lvds cable (i bought two 701 cables cut a connector off each end and joined them in the middle just to halve the amount of teeny weeny little cables i had to extend) im sure its been covered here before but the wires in the LVDS cables are tiny little coaxial cables, youll need to use a not very sharp at all razor blade to scratch up the outer coating around an inch from the end of the cuts untill you can pull it off cleanly, then unwind the shielding conductor from the inner cable, and twist it so its nice and out of the way, then using the same method, remove around 5mm of the coating from the inner conductor, then using a multimeter set to continuity mode, test that the two conductors (shielding and inner) are not connected, otherwise whatever voltage is applied to the inner conductor will go straight to ground (see above body mutilation)from there you connect the inner conductor to its opposite number insulate each one then wrap all the shielding together and you should have a functioning cable. sorry if im teaching you to suck eggs, but im new to these boards and dont know anyones skillz yet :)

I'd rather have a lengthy guide than one that leave out stuff. Thanks! I'm gonna give it a go and try to extend one of my extra 701 LVDS cable.... not I just gotta find it........
